Computer Malfunction#
Let's talk about how I suddenly had time to write the NewsLetter. It was very unlucky. The company's computer had a problem, endlessly restarting. I've been using a Mac for many years, and this is the first time I've encountered this issue. I reinstalled it yesterday, thinking it was fixed. However, when I arrived at the office this morning, it still didn't work. I then went to find my IT colleague, who ended up wiping and reinstalling the system for me. After wiping it, everything was fine. So, I suspect it was a system or software issue. I don't know which software caused this problem. This made me wonder if I should simplify the computer configuration. My computer has various shortcuts, input methods, and keyboard modifications that others wouldn't be able to use. If I were given another computer, I wouldn't feel comfortable using it either. Although it's important to have your own habits, when problems arise, it takes more time to solve them. This is similar to having a unified standard, which would make migration easier. For example, a simple configuration could make it easier to start working. Upon careful consideration, it seems quite necessary, or it's another perspective. In summary, some of my special habits, while convenient, can also lead to excessive dependence.
From this, I also had a small revelation. Previously, my habit was to back up my computer once a week, usually on weekends. However, last weekend, I was lazy and didn't back up. As a result, my computer had issues on Wednesday when I needed it. Now, I can only use Time Machine to restore to a backup from two weeks ago. Although it's only been a week, if I had persisted in backing up every week, the effect would have been much better. It seems that some small habits are necessary. When there's nothing wrong, it seems troublesome, and I might not need it. But when I do need it, it becomes a bit of a loss.
Work Pressure#
This week's work meeting made me suddenly feel the pressure. Firstly, I didn't proactively follow up on a project I was assigned to. Of course, this is my fault, and I admitted it directly in the meeting. Secondly, the progress of several tasks that I am the owner of seems average. I'm doing more of what I'm familiar with. Thirdly, I have claimed a sharing session for next week and need to prepare a document. Mainly due to the computer issues, which caused delays yesterday afternoon and all day today, apart from completing OKRs and looking at the requirements document, there hasn't been much progress. I suddenly felt a sense of urgency.
I'm also adjusting myself. Actually, neither colleagues nor leaders have questioned the progress, but I feel a bit behind. Just arrived in a new environment, wanting to perform well. I should prioritize and assess the urgency. The current feeling is that there are many tasks in the 'things' list, but none can be completed immediately. It's a bit chaotic.
Audiobooks & Books#
Started writing this last Wednesday, and now it's Thursday, I've delayed it for too long. I won't publish this article.
That's all for this issue of the Newsletter. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Thank you for reading.
